Duck Boxing 鸭形拳

Ya Xing Quan (Duck Boxing) are one kind of animal-imitation boxing, and were created by a Taoist of Mountain Emei in the late Tang Dynasty. It is an imitation of the walk position, the flutter of wings, shaking feather, grinding water and other gestures of the duck, as well as a combination of techniques and gaits. The features of Ya Xing Quan (Duck Boxing) are swinging the arms naturally, alternating the legs, pedaling and kicking, swaying the body right and left, back and front. Techniques are mainly based on the palm, including hooking, hugging, holding, interpolating, threading, swinging, tucking, throwing, etc. forward and backward, left and right, weak outside but strong inside in nature. The footwork techniques are: forward stance, empty stance, walking step, dragging step, beat step, cross over step, squeezing step, jumping step, flounder step and so on. These steps are done in the squat state and require excellent leg strength. The head and neck must monitor the front and pull the after, twisting the body, and this requires good coordination ability.
